August 2007- Bioinitiative Report
www.bioinitiative.org,

A 610 page document contributed to by the EU Environmental Agency and referenced on their website.
The report is an international scientific review by 14 world leading scientists and public health & public policy experts- based on the assessment of 2,000 published studies.

” It appears it is the INFORMATION conveyed by electromagnetic radiation (rather than the heat) that causes biological changes- some of the biological changes may lead to loss of wellbeing, disease and even death.”

“The Report has been written to document the reasons why current public exposure standards for non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation are no longer good enough to protect public health.”

“A cautionary target level for pulsed RF exposures for ambient wireless that could be applied to RF sources from cell tower antennas, WI-FI, WI-MAX and other similar sources is proposed. That recommended cautionary target level is .1 microwatts per centimeter squared… for pulsed RF where these exposures affect the general public; this advisory is proportionate to the evidence and in accord with prudent public policy.”

Note: this recommended exposure limit is 10,000 times more stringent than Canada’s Safety Code 6 exposure limit that is set at 1,000 microwatts per centimetre squared.

“There is suggestive to strongly suggestive evidence that RF exposures may cause changes in cell membrane function, cell communication, cell metabolism, activation of proto-oncogenes and can trigger the production of stress proteins at exposure levels below current regulatory limits. Resulting effects can include DNA breaks and chromosome aberrations, cell death including death of brain neurons, increased free radical production, activation of the endogenous opioid system, cell stress and premature aging, changes in brain function including, memory loss, retarded learning, slower motor function, and other performance impairment in children., headaches and fatigue, sleep disorders, neurodegenerative conditions, reductions in melatonin secretion and cancers.”
